Privacy Policy

Effective September 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Finity(“Finity”, “we”, “us”), an Android app developed by TheAtoms, handles information when you use the app. Finity is a personal expense manager: you record what you spend and earn, and it keeps that record on your phone.

1. Your financial records stay on your device

Your accounts, transactions, budgets, categories and recurring payments are stored in an encrypted database on your phone. The encryption key is generated on the device the first time you open the app and is held in the Android Keystore — it is never sent anywhere, and we do not have a copy of it.

We do not operate a sync service, we do not hold a copy of your financial history, and we cannot recover it for you. If you turn on the app lock, the database is not even opened until you have authenticated with your fingerprint or device PIN.

Finity does not connect to your bank and never asks for banking credentials. Everything in it is what you entered yourself.

2. What we collect

Finity works fully without an account. You only need to sign in to use the optional assistant features, and only then do we hold anything at all.

Your email address and name

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and your name from Google and store them so the assistant can be associated with your account and your subscription. We request only the email and profile scopes, and nothing else. Finity displays your initials rather than your Google profile picture, deliberately, so that opening the screen does not send your IP address to Google.

How many assistant requests you have made

We keep a count of assistant requests per month so that plan limits can be enforced and shown to you. These are counters and timestamps — they record that a request happened, not what it contained.

Your subscription status

If you buy Finity Pro, we store which plan you are on, whether it is active, when it renews, and Google Play's receipt identifier for the purchase.

No analytics, no advertising, no trackers

Finity contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, location, contacts, or your usage of individual screens. This is checked by an automated test that fails the build if such a dependency is ever added.

3. What the assistant sends, exactly

The assistant is the only part of Finity that uses the network for your data, it is off until you sign in, and each feature sends only the fields listed below. Requests go to our own service, which passes the request to an AI model provider, returns the answer and keeps no copy of it. Our service stores no financial data.

  • Describing a spend in words

The sentence you typed, plus the names of your accounts and categories so the result can be matched to them.

  • Budget suggestions and spending digests

Category totals already added up on your device, with category names. Individual transactions are never sent to this feature.

  • Deciding which transactions a question is about

Your question and a date range. This step receives no transaction data at all — it only tells the app which records to load locally.

  • Answering a question about your spending

Up to 200 matching transactions, each reduced to amount, date, type, category and merchant, plus your currency code. Titles, descriptions, account names and record identifiers are never included.

  • Unusual-spend nudges

A single amount, its category and merchant, and that category's average and spread. This is sent only when the amount is already an outlier by a calculation made on your device.

  • Confirming a Finity Pro subscription

The platform, the product you bought, and Google Play's receipt identifier. It confirms a purchase and describes nothing about your spending.

If you never use the assistant, none of the above ever happens. You can also switch the assistant features off inside the app.

4. Permissions Finity requests

Each permission below is used only for the purpose listed. Finity does not request location, camera, contacts, microphone or access to your files. You can review or revoke permissions from your device's Settings at any time.

  • Internet

Used only by the optional assistant features and to confirm a Finity Pro subscription. With the assistant switched off, Finity makes no network requests.

  • Fingerprint / biometrics

To unlock the app when you turn on the app lock. Your fingerprint is checked by Android and is never seen by Finity.

  • Notifications

To remind you on the day a recurring payment is due. Reminders are created on your phone; no push service is involved.

  • Run at startup

So that reminders you already scheduled survive a restart. Without it they would be silently lost when you reboot.

5. Notifications

Reminders for recurring payments are scheduled by the app on your own device. No push-notification service is used, so no third party learns what you have scheduled. A reminder never names an amount — it says a payment is due, and nothing more, because a lock screen can be read by anyone holding the phone.

6. Purchases

Finity Pro is an optional monthly subscription sold through Google Play Billing. Google takes the payment; we never see your card number or billing address. To confirm a purchase, the app sends the product identifier and Google Play's receipt identifier to our service, which checks it with Google and records that your account is entitled to Pro. Subscribing changes the assistant's monthly limit and nothing about what is sent.

You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions, and the app links you there directly.

7. Third-party services

Finity relies on the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Google — sign-in and Google Play Billing
  • Supabase — stores your email address, subscription status and request counts
  • Vercel — hosts the service the assistant talks to
  • Anthropic — processes assistant requests. Anthropic does not train its models on data sent through its API.

8. Retention, and deleting your data

On your phone. Your financial records stay on the device until you delete them. Clear all data in Settings empties every account, transaction, budget and schedule immediately. Uninstalling Finity removes the encrypted database and its key with it.

On our side. If you signed in, we keep your email address, subscription status and monthly request counts for as long as your account exists. Assistant requests are not stored — they are passed through and discarded once answered.

Deleting your account. Email us at hey@theatoms.tech from the address you signed in with and we will delete your account and everything associated with it. Deleting your account does not touch the records on your phone, which are yours and which we cannot reach.

9. Children's privacy

Finity is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Security

Your financial records are encrypted at rest on your device with a key held in the Android Keystore, and can be placed behind your fingerprint or device PIN. Requests to our service travel over HTTPS and are authenticated. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but keeping your history on your own device removes an entire category of risk: there is no central store of anyone's spending for us to lose.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
